Symptoms
ANXIETY
The sources of anxiety are indefinite. A common feature of life in todays world, anxiety, affects large numbers of people. Those experiencing a general anxiety state, usually feel themselves trapped in a cycle of worry. They may have, a feeling of unrelenting stress, or a daily sense of undefined fear, or recurring panic, or a feeling of inadequacy in interpersonal relations. They can find they are unable to cope with simple aspects and functions of everyday life. Mood swings are not uncommon. The condition can include a wide range of disturbed behaviour patterns, emotional upsets, even phobia, depression, and sexual problems. Analytical therapy, using hypnosis, offers the quickest and most effective way of release from anxiety related problems, and a wide range of psychological issues. There also may be instances, where suggestion therapy will produce rapid and lasting results. See Hypnotherapy for more information.
DEPRESSION
There are differing forms of depression, and some will require medical help. Very often, however, the depression starts with feelings of loneliness, sadness, stress, inadequacy, rejection, hopelessness (related to experiences in life) and becomes labelled depression.
Furthermore, people with anxiety will avoid situations that give rise to or increase their anxious feelings and this can lead to depression.
Thus, anxiety and depression can be linked in a repetitively cyclical experience each feature leading to the other and each sustaining the other.
However, experience has shown that many cases of depression respond positively after a few sessions of analytical therapy, using hypnosis (Hypnoanalysis). See Hypnotherapy for more information.
OBSESSIONS & COMPULSIONS
The characteristics of the of the obsessive personality type are often to be valued. They could be essential qualities for anyone engaged in precision work. Much scientific research could not be carried out without them.
However, were the scientific researcher to experience an insistent feeling of being dirty, contaminated, then this could form the basis for the development of neurotic obsession. More so if there is the impulse to wash, continually, the secondary phenomenon is developed in order to obtain relief from the primary disturbance..
Many minor compulsions can be discerned in adult superstitions: failure to touch wood, or avoid walking under a ladder, for instance: and a feeling of anxiety may briefly follow the breaking of such rituals. In other circumstances resisting a compulsion may arouse acute distress which can only be assuaged by bowing to the inner need and going back to complete the ritual. The common practice has grown, of grouping obsessions and compulsions together, and referring to them as obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) As, however, there is an understanding that obsessive and compulsive characteristics are separate and different, within the hypnoanalytical procedure this is acknowledged. Hypnoanalysis offers the most effective way of finding release from the above.
Common symptoms in this group include
- Checking and counting rituals
- Excessive hand washing
- Superstitious beliefs, or rituals that have to be performed
- Excessive concern with hygiene and contamination
- Persistent jealousy
Once again, hypnoanalysis can offer early and effective release. See Hypnotherapy for more information.
PHOBIA
A phobia is symbolic, expressing an interpretation of an inner anxiety. Some phobias may appear to make sense, apparently relating to something that actually happened and produced a very strong emotional reaction. Later, warnings are triggered, so as not to get involved, under any circumstances, in like situations. The sufferer feels compelled to avoid them. This is more than simply fear.
Some phobias seem to make no sense at all, with no conscious recollection of what could have started them. However, all phobias are almost always formed in childhood. The symptoms may appear much later, caused by bottled up emotions being projected, symbolically, onto objects or situations.
Common symptoms include
- Agoraphobia (fear of open spaces)
- Claustrophobia (fear of enclosed spaces)
- Acrophobia (fear of heights)
- Emetophobia (fear of being sick)
- Arachnophobia (fear of spiders)
Analysis, using hypnosis (Hypnoanalysis) can bring about a resolution and a release from the symptoms.
See Hypnotherapy for more information.
The foregoing is not a complete list of symptoms, simply those more frequently encountered. If you have a problem you would like to discuss without committing yourself to any treatment
