About Hypnotherapy
hypnosis
Fears and myths surrounding the use of hypnosis are totally undeserved. The state of hypnosis is a totally natural phenomenon. I am totally devoid of any mystical or magical powers. No flowing robes or swinging watches, just a reassuring manner to put you at your ease, and the expertise to help you with your problem. There is absolutely no question of being controlled or manipulated whilst in a state of hypnosis.
what is hypnosis?
It is a state of deep relaxation with a heightened state of awareness which is induced either by the hypnotist or by the individual.
This state of mind, to the onlooker, resembles sleep, which, in fact, is how it got its name. It comes from the Greek word, " hypnos ", meaning sleep. Far from being asleep, the person experiencing hypnosis may feel a sense of heightened awareness. In this state they retain overall control of their own mind, whilst being open to suggestion that may be given by the hypnotist.
It is not possible that you could be made to do anything you did not want to do, and you would not blurt out any of your secrets. The person in hypnosis, however, may experience their senses more strongly, and their memory may be enhanced.
The state of hypnosis is a most pleasant and relaxing natural phenomenon, during which a person can talk quite easily. It is inconceivable any harm could befall you.
Hypnosis is being used increasingly as an adjunct to orthodox medicine, where it is providing a valuable alternative to drugs and anaesthesia. It is used to accelerate the healing process and to relieve and help with pain.
Hypnosis is also being used in Sport and in Business, indeed anywhere. where there is a desire to maintain focus on achievement and sustain peak level performance. These trends highlight the advantages of learning self-hypnosis.
the therapy
I use two entirely different treatment strategies, using Conscious Hypnosis.
suggestion therapy
Suggestion therapy is used to produce a change in the behaviour pattern, such as quitting smoking or nail biting, overcoming pre-test nervousness, boosting confidence, and achieving relaxation.
analytical therapy
Analytical therapy is used to discover the original cause of psychological problems, using hypno-analysis. This can be summarised briefly as the doctrine of " cause and effect " every effect (the symptom) must have a cause. Finding and removing this cause results in a complete and lasting release from the symptom.
There is no need for anyone to put up with something inside themselves but outside their control, provided they are prepared to devote time, money, effort and self discipline to be free of their problem. The use of conscious hypnosis can dramatically speed up analysis and results can be achieved in a few weeks.
Certain problems respond particularly well to hypnosis. Please refer to the next section for details.
I deal with these any many other problems. Whatever your problem, you can be sure you will receive the best of attention and that I will respect totally your right to confidentiality, privacy, and anonymity.
